The British controversy on the caste law and its significance for India

While the controversy around the caste law in the United Kingdom has been going on, there has been a general, vague feeling that there is some connection between that law and India. In a previous article Prakash Shah discussed some of those connections. With the introduction of Shashi Tharoor MP’s Anti-Discrimination and Equality Bill into the Lok Sabha in March 2017, the outlines of the connection come into greater focus. In this article for The Pioneer, Prakash Shah discusses the inter-relationship between the UK law and the potential implications of the law proposed for India.
